THE READER DESK

Reader HelpA few clear answers, so you can spend more time with the stories.

Reading is free. Use a free account to submit stories and replies. Publication requires moderation. Account emails and private drafts are not displayed publicly.

Do I need an account to read?

No. Published stories and the book opening are open to everyone. A free account lets you write, reply, like and save stories.

How do I join and return to a story?

Choose Join free and use your own email address. Follow the account email to set your password. You return to the story or discussion you were joining. Check spam or junk if the email is missing.

What if I forget my password?

Use the password reset link on the sign-in page. The reset link expires; request a fresh one if needed.

When will my story or reply appear?

New stories and replies are held for moderator review. Your private drafts and pending replies are visible to you and the site owner. You can track replies in My replies.

Can I change or remove something I wrote?

You can edit your own draft or pending story through My stories, and withdraw your own pending reply through My replies. For your published story or approved reply, send a private correction or removal request. The owner reviews and decides what happens.

What does Editorial fiction mean?

These are fictional editorial examples used to introduce the forum. They are not real member submissions. Members also choose Personal account or Fiction for their own stories.

What is saved on my device?

Reading preferences and paragraph position are optional. They last up to 90 days when you choose Save on this device, and Reset removes them. The writing helper keeps your answers only in the current page until you add them to a draft. The existing discovery guide has its own separate optional memory control.

How do I raise a concern?

Use Report a concern on a published story for moderation concerns. For your own published writing, use My requests. Please avoid putting another person’s private information in a public story or reply.
